But in fact Val'sharah represents an unexpected threat which balloons into a major lore character's death, so this is arguably the climax of the four questing zones, particularly when you consider the first max-level raid picks up right where the Val'sharah questing ends. Once you've completed those three zones, turn to Val'sharah, which Khadgar presents as something of a victory lap. perhaps somewhat less than urgent, so they should probably wait until the crises of Azshara and Stormheim ate resolved. It makes sense that Mayla and Oro wouldn't reach out to the Kirin Tor until the Alliance and Horde have established their presence in the Isles and begun recruiting allies like Farondis's court in Azsuna, and a number of Highmountain quests are. I'd personally still put Stormheim first, though.)Īfter Azsuna, let's have a brief intermission from elf issues by moving to Highmountain, where the Highmountain tauren are experiencing a dissolution of alliances, leaving them vulnerable. (One argument for putting Azsuna first is that this is the introduction to Tehd and Marius, who will pop up again in other zones. This is a pretty good overview of the politics of the Broken Isles as a whole and serves as a little preview for the kind of stuff you'll deal with more in Suramar, while still clearly being a direct consequence of the events of the Broken Shore and the release of the demon hunters. You'll learn more about the elves of the region, mana addiction, etc. While all that's been going on, the Illidari have been getting into trouble in Azsuna, so you'll head there next to bail them out. (I also think Odyn's testing you again in the raid makes the most sense if some time has passed since you completed his quests and dungeon, so that's another reason to do Stormheim first.) This also highlights the Greymane/Windrunner animosity which you'll see play out at the Warden towers throughout the expansion Sylvanas's rage at Greymane's forces makes more sense once you've completed this zone. Start with Stormheim: the Alliance/Horde conflict set up in the opening Broken Shore scenario is continued here, and you start off dealing with a shipwreck which would probably have been the expansion start if they hadn't decided to make the Dalaran teleportation your actual method of arrival in the Broken Isles. I think there actually is a logical order. Sorry if this question was answered before, I couldn't find it. In Legion, what would be an ideal "zone order", to get the lore and the storytelling right? Skip Krasarang because it sucks and you don't need it until patch 5.1 Giving and Example from MoP leveling: You start in Jade Forest, go to Valley of the Four Winds, Kun-lai summit, open the Vale of eternal blossoms, maybe go to Taolong steppes and finally wrap everything on Dread Wastes. I know that the leveling zones in Legion don't have a "proper order", because they all scale to your level, so you can pick the order you want.īut I've read here in reddit before that early in development of Legion, the level scale wasn't a thing for the broken islands and that there's a "proper order" to play the story, and that some things like the Greymane-Sylvanas plot would be better understandable playing in this order. I'll resub to WoW after a long break (stopped before HFC dropped, back in WoD) and I'm really interested in Legion's lore.
